Ruisseau Jackson: Towards Non-profit Status

An information session on Ruisseau Jackson Natural Protected Area’s recent projects was held Saturday, October 10, at the City Hall of Morin Heights. For participants, it was an occasion to learn more about the grassroots movement to protect and enhance the natural environment around the Ruisseau Jackson watershed.

Mathieu Regnier, coordinator RJANP, presented the mission of the organisation and reminded participants of RJANP’s key milestones that have led to the creation of an initiative for protecting a target area about 20 square kilometers spread over three municipalities. Mathieu Regnier also presented his vision of a mosaic of different protection status.

Mathieu Madison, biologist, presented the most recent projects RJANP, described the conservation plan established in 2015 and highlighted the main findings of a study on the role of Jackson Creek watershed in the protection of water quality.

The information session was followed by RJANP’s First Annual General Meeting.

The Annual General Meeting was the occasion to adopt the new regulations of the organization and elect new Board Members. This is the first step towards the obtention of a Non-profit Organisation Status with the Government of Quebec.

A warm welcome to the new team!
