Declaration of Intent

Declaration of intent

As part of the voluntary conservation and stewardship options for private land, RJANP suggests that owners sign a moral voluntary conservation agreement in the form of a declaration of intent. This is often the first step toward more formal conservation options that are possible in Quebec’s legislative context. Through the declaration of intent, owners state their desire to preserve the natural features of their properties, in keeping with a conservation vision like that of RJANP.

The declaration of intent is the owner’s moral commitment based on an informal agreement. If you are interested in signing such an agreement, please contact the RJANP team directly.

The declaration of intent has no legal value. It is honour based and in no way binding. It is effective for as long as you want to honour it, and you can terminate it at any time. If you were to sell your property, the new owner is not bound by the agreement and neither are your heirs or successors.

The declaration is a confirmation of how important our local environment and the environmental and conservation objectives of our collective movement are to you.

Signing the declaration is an easy process, but we recommend that an expert first visit your property, then prepare a personalized environmental assessment with RJANP. We will then prepare an Owner’s Booklet.
