Ruisseau Jackson Natural Protected Area is a project that should appeal to all interested in nature conservation and especially to the citizens of Morin-Heights – Saint-Sauveur – Mille-Isles.

The first phase of the project aims to determine the attributes of high conservation value within the area of the Ruisseau Jackson watershed. A characterization study will identify and assess the environmental value of this remarkable natural area.

The second phase will mobilize and involve community members, and information, education and awareness-building activities and tools will incite local stakeholders to contribute to the stream’s protection.

Landowners within the area of interest of the Ruisseau Jackson watershed can help preserve the natural protected area by signing a conservation agreement or obtaining protected area status. Each conservation agreement, whatever its status, represents an effort to align the pieces of a precious landscape mosaic. Property owners participating in the initiative will prevent biodiversity loss from habitat fragmentation and will contribute to the safeguarding of air and water quality for generations.

Recreational and nature interpretation activities add a priceless social value to this precious natural environment and landscape.
