On November 30, 2015, the Réseau des milieux naturels protégés (RMN) will be giving a course on private land conservation and on the Répertoire de milieux naturels protégés du Québec [directory of Quebec’s protected natural areas], a new tool created by the RMN. Supported by Environment Canada and the Fondation de la Faune du Québec, the three-hour course is given free of charge to any individual or organization working in land use planning or land protection. Ruisseau Jackson: protected natural area (RJANP) will be there! The president of the RJANP is sharpening his pencils and will be taking notes.
The purpose of the meeting is to help participants incorporate the conservation of natural areas into their land use planning. Topics include habitats on private land and the importance of protecting them, habitat enhancement, guidance on activities that are compatible with those habitats and all the tools available for that purpose. Special attention will be paid to the Plateforme d’enregistrement de mesures de conservation sur terres privées [platform for registering conservation measures on private land] and the Répertoire de milieux naturels protégés du Québec.
