Good news to start the year: Abrinord – Organisme de bassin versant de la rivière du Nord (website in French only) will be taking water samples in the Ruisseau Jackson watershed in 2020.
As in previous years, the sampling stations are in the Pays-d’en-Haut and Argenteuil regional county municipalities. This covers the entire area: upstream near Lac Anne to downstream near the Rivière à Simon.
We want to thank the Lac Daïnava and Lac Écho associations, and the Municipality of Morin-Heights for their support.
Our plan was to sample the stream throughout the area to assess the aquatic health of the entire watershed through physicochemical sampling using very precise parameters. This year, we will be keeping four out of the five sampling stations used in 2019. Samples have been taken at two of these stations since 2015.
The main goal of RJANP’s plan is to determine the ecosystem’s health and water quality through a broad range of indicators. The RJANP team will thus be able to pinpoint areas where local authorities and citizens should try to mitigate the negative impacts of human activity and encourage voluntary conservation. We will keep the public informed of the information gathered.
All the data are public and available on Abridnord’s iEAU website (in French only).
