Your properties in the Ruisseau Jackson Protected Natural Area (RJANP) feature a variety of ecosystems and habitats. Are you familiar with them? RJANP has implemented a survey program to help you understand your property’s natural attributes.
The goal of the Owner’s Booklet program is mainly to inform and educate participating owners on the conservation issues in the RJANP area. Each participating owner will receive an “Owner’s Booklet” after we visit their property. The booklets will give added value to the properties and provide a new perspective on their importance in the region. The information will also be of interest to the entire community—an excellent way to contribute to our collective project.
If you are interested, contact us by October 2017. We will be able to start surveying your property as early as next spring.
The purpose of the program is to:
- Survey and identify the specific characteristics of the properties of interest for conservation purposes;
- Identify interesting features of the properties surveyed and their conservation value;
- Develop an information, education and awareness tool adapted to the specific circumstances of each property surveyed and each property owner concerned;
- Make tailored recommendations to preserve the features of interest on the properties surveyed;
- Encourage owners to sign a moral agreement, a declaration of intent between them and the RJANP demonstrating their commitment to protecting natural environments and their ecological features;
- Inform owners about various legal conservation options and the official status that could be considered for their properties.
As part of the production of the booklet, RJANP can provide support for your own natural habitat protection and enhancement projects. Whether you want to hold an interpretive walk on your property, develop wildlife habitats, install nest boxes for birds or be guided through legal conservation options, we will support you and put you in touch with the experts.
