Ruisseau Jackson Water sampling: More Stations in 2018

Great news! Water sampling will continue in the Ruisseau Jackson watershed with even more stations in 2018! From the MRC des Pays-d’en-Haut to the MRC d’Argenteuil, from Ruisseau Jackson‘s main water source to Rivière à Simon. Thanks to Lac Echo and to  Lake Daïnava’s Associations and thanks to Abrinord – Organisme de bassin versant de la rivière du Nord

In order to effectively sample streams throughout the region, our plan was designed to assess the aquatic health of the entire watershed through intensive biological and water chemistry sampling. Existing sampling stations will be kept in the new year. Two of them are in place since 2015.

The main objectives of RJANP’s plan are to determine water condition through  a variety of indicators, to locate areas where attention should be given by local authorities and citizens, to provide information to the public and to monitor conditions over time. Please contact us if you wish more information on water sampling in the region.

The 5 water sampling stations on Ruisseau Jackson. Station number 64 (a temporary reference number) is the new station to be added in 2018. It will allow us to monitor water quality upstream and downstream from the site of an old sandpit. Sadly, what appears to be illegal activities are still underway there and are a threat to water flow and to fragile ecosystems.
